Spring, 1991.

Amid the rubble of the First Gulf War, Saddam Hussein’s forces brutally crush the Kurdish rebellions that rise up in the wake of his defeat. Two million civilians flee into the freezing Zagros mountains. Trapped between the Turkish border and Saddam's vicious reprisals, 1000 people perish in the cold every day his onslaught goes uncallenged.

As the crisis unfolds unprecedentedly on television screens around the world, a small group inside Whitehall seize a chance and tries to take action before it's too late to stop another Kurdish genocide. Set between the Kurdish mountains and the Whitehall offices, Safe Haven tells the story of two British diplomats trying to prevent a genocide, against the backdrop of two refugees fighting to survive.
